They’re Here! Goats + Chickens Have Arrived At Philo!

It’s official. Goats and Chickens have arrived at Philo, and we are beginning a new adventure.

And just as with every part of our property at Philo from our Cottage to the garden, we are committed to creating spaces of beauty and hospitality for the animals, too. Already Brandon has spent hours preparing the goats home. Setting up a space that is not only comfortable for them but also will protect them from predators. It’s been a good learning experience and we’re thankful that one of the goats strengths (eating all vegetation) will help us clear out more space for our chickens. Speaking of chickens, we received our chicks from Alchemist Farm!! At just a few days old, the chicks arrived to much fanfare from the kids (and me, let’s be honest). While the chicks are in their brooder, Brandon and a friend will build the coop.

We’re already learning quite a bit about animals and how to care for them well. It’ll be quite the journey, but we’re excited to see what will come in.
