Hospitality in Silence: Reflection
I haven’t written as much lately about hospitality in life - motherhood, friendship, marriage, community, race, home, etc. - in fact I’ve been a bit silent, wrestling on my own. A practice I believe is necessary for all of us. There is great hospitality in silence. Great opportunity for depth and awareness of the hidden things. Within silence is opportunity for greater intimacy through communion with God. And that is the point isn’t it? Relationship with Him. Everything else flows from this, our worship, our love of neighbor and self, our life and calling, our living and moving and being, our everything starts with God, His presence, His Word and our relationship with Him. So may we all embrace silence, in our mind and heart, let us fight that which keep us from stopping our frenzy and embrace a chance to experience God through simply being present to Him. 5 minutes, 5 hours, whatever it may be, may we offer it with gladness, it is time that is never wasted. And what a gift, what an act of hospitality, that our Holy and complete Creator invites us to be with Him and delights to simply be with us, too.
